Earlier this year the Equipment Dealers Association, in partnership with nine regional equipment dealers’ associations submitted a request to the Federal Department of Transportation to have your dealership’s service and delivery vehicles exempted from the new Electronic Logging Device (ELD) rule. We believe that the unique nature of your business and servicing your customers warrants an exemption for our industry.
We are pleased to share that we heard from the Department of Transportation and they have granted our request to hear arguments for an exemption for equipment dealers. For your information, we have attached the notice from the official registrar that outlines our argument and request. This is where we need your help. We need as many of you as possible to submit comments in support of this exemption. The comment period ends November 27, 2017 and a decision on an exemption will be announced thereafter.
