The Senate adjourned last week and will return on August 15th to evaluate President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee and pass appropriations bills prior to the end of the fiscal year. Before leaving for their recess, the Senate appointed its Farm Bill Conference representatives. The following Senators will participate in these negotiations:

  1. Pat Roberts (R-KS)
  2. Mitch McConnell (R-KS)
  3. John Hoeven (R-ND)
  4. Joni Ernst (R-IA)
  5. John Boozman (R-AR)
  6. Debbie Stabenow (D-MI)
  7. Patrick Leahy (D-VT)
  8. Sherrod Brown (D-OH)

The House will reconvene after Labor Day.   Senator McConnell has indicated that he hopes the Farm Bill will be finalized shortly after the House Members returns. As Senators and Members spend time in their home districts, dealers are encouraged to take this time to share the message about crop insurance preservation. Dealers can click here to download a one-pager which outlines the need for crop insurance. In addition, EDA will be lobbying the conference members in Washington, D.C. in September, asking them to preserve crop insurance. If you have any questions as to how you can help protect crop insurance, contact EDA’s VP of Government Relations, Natalie Higgins at nhiggins@equipmentdealer.org.
