U.S. and Canada Sales of 2WD Farm Tractors Under 100 HP Continue to Rise

ccording to the May 2017 United States and Canada Tractor and Combine reports recently published by the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), unit sales of 2WD farm tractors in the U.S. increased by 7.8 percent compared to May 2016. Unit sales of 2WD farm tractors in Canada also increased by 21.3 percent when comparing May 2016 and May 2017. For both U.S. and Canada, the higher unit sales in the 2WD category were under 100 horsepower. Year-to-date unit sales of 2WD farm tractors in both the U.S. and Canada have shown increases compared to 2016. U.S. sales have increased by 6.6 percent, and in Canada sales grew by 17.3 percent.

In the United States, 4WD farm tractors saw a significant increase in unit sales compared to this time last year, rising by 25.9 percent. Although Canadian unit sales of 4WD farm tractors decreased by 20.7 percent compared to May 2016, overall sales of farm tractors are up from this time last year.
