My grandfather and father have served Northeast Nebraska farmers for 43 years. I have watched them at the dealership and on the farm, and this is where I learned the importance of agriculture in our world. I want to be a part of the ever-changing and ever-growing industry. My work experience for Manzer Equipment began when I was in the 8th grade and continued through my Senior year in high school.
By receiving this scholarship, I will be able to attend Morningside College without worrying so much about the financial aspect of being a student. I will be studying in the Applied Agriculture & Food Studies program, so I will be able to devote my time to the program. I am very appreciative to receive this scholarship.
My advice to a young person wanting to study agriculture would be, “Do it!” This is an industry that will be providing products for the entire world, and that will never change. There are going to be exciting things happening and challenges ahead that we can meet “head on” to solve problems for everyone.
My family’s business is a legacy that I want to continue. When finished with my college education, I want to work in the industry for a several years, and then come back to our business where I can use my experience to help further the life of the company. I would really like to come back to the business as one of the third generation of Manzer Equipment.
